I am researching Books on survival. I am looking for a moderate size paper back book that would be easy to carry along the way. I have found one called "the Encyclopedia of survival techniques" does anyone know anything about this book? or any others. i don't want just a "here's how you start a fire" book. i want something like what we have talked about like making alcohol, making jerky, first aid. all types of survival info.

I went to this site http://www.survivaliq.com/survival/introduction.htm and it references:

US Army Survival Manual: FM 21-76 (Paperback)
by Department of Defense

I haven't read the book, but the site seems to have good info. I'm sure others on this forum have more info on this manual.

Has anyone read these? or have any input on them?

The Illustrated Guide to Edible Wild Plants (Paperback)
by Department of the Army

Crisis Preparedness Handbook: A Complete Guide to Home Storage and Physical Survival (Paperback)
by Jack A. Spigarelli

When All Hell Breaks Loose (Paperback)
by Cody Lundin

SAS Survival Handbook: How to Survive in the Wild, in Any Climate, on Land or at Sea (Paperback)
by John Lofty Wiseman

They were all in the "books you may like if you like this one so buy them all together and get a discount so we can make more money. you know you wanna. c'mon buy them all" suggestion section on Amazon.

What about The Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks? It doesn't have everything, but it's pretty good, and easy to carry.

I was going to say that until he said "make alcohol, jerky etc..." That book is all about Survival with Zombies. He needs Wilderness Survival.
