Shaun of the Dead was hilarious. I know some people who would react the same way.
28 Days Later was a very good but very depressing movie.

Oh yeah shaun of the dead for sure totally forgot that one definetly at the top of my list. Also great drinking game movie, every time someone says shaun take a shot. It happens about 50-52 times in that flick so no teqilla unless you Ike the e.r.
Another good one for that is killer clowns from outer space, every time someone says debbi take a shot. I know its a retarded movie but seriously you don't play these kinda games to the english patient...

Shaun of the Dead was hilarious. I know some people who would react the same way.
28 Days Later was a very good but very depressing movie.
One of my favorite scenes is where he walks to the store and there are signs of the outbreak all around, but he is totally oblivious. I think that really captures how unaware most people generally are about the situation around them ( not so for us at nozombies).
Night of the Living Dead started the modern genre ( or The Last Man on Earth, which it heavily borrowed from) and was also the first zombie movie I ever saw. I was about 4 and the only reason I got to watch it was because my cousin said it was too scary and I pitched a fit and cried until they let me stay up and watch it. I wasn't scared, and I only remembered the part where Ben told Barbara "Don't look at it", so until I was a teenager and watched it again I thought the premise of that movie was that staring them in the eyes made you one of them. I was also more scared the second time as I realized that the zombies aren't what really killed them all. It was ignorance, infighting and a lack of cooperation.
The first zombie movie that I really got into was Return of the Living Dead. I was probably about 15 when I saw that and loved it so much I wrote my first novella, which was intended to be a sequel to it. I was thrilled when I found out there was a ROTLD2, and consequently disappointed when I found out I had already saw it at a much younger age and still disliked it. 3 was okay, I thought and 4 an 5
The Evil Dead films are kinda zombie movies in that most "Deadites" are corpses returned to life. It is what has made me long for a "Sawed off, 12 gauge, double barrelled Remington" as well.
I particularly liked the first Resident Evil as well. There was a tension to it the others just lacked.
There's just so many great ones that I love, it's so hard to name them all. It would be hard just to name the movies I have without gathering them all up, let alone the great ones I don't own.

the evildead was made when the main characters ash was in collage that movie was part of his thesis in film school. they made it with a 10 g budget (lots of ketchup ,cottage cheese, milk, and corn syrup.)
resident evil has the best story line if u replace umbrella with government

Hell, I don't think you have to replace Umbrella with government, Umbrella represents big business, and big business is government. If there were a large multinational corporation like that, they would likely receive government funding and with large political donations and a large workforce they could persuade to vote how they wanted ( this still goes on a lot more than most people think) Umbrella and the government would be likely one in the same, With enough money, politicians will look the other way on a lot of illegal and unethical actions. If the voting populous is convinced that the same company brings jobs and stimulates the economy, they will likely turn a blind eye as well.
On a semi related note, have you played the games? They deal with a lot of the same themes I mentioned, as does the Resident Evil:Degeneration movie that just came out. It dealt a lot with the government connections and cover-up of the Raccoon City incident, plus a lot of zombies.

I noticed that Overkill said that night of the living dead was heavily borrowed from the last man on earth; I just wanna point out that in the last man on earth, they were more vampire like, and became more like zombies as the remakes were made.
Also, worst zombie movie ever: Night of the Living Dead in 3D. Disgrace to the sacred name of Night of the Living Dead.

I like the original Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, and Day of the Dead movies.
I don't really care for the fast zombie genre... It just doesn't seem as likely for re-animated corpses to be running at top speed. maybe it's just me though. Also, if resident evil stuck with zombies, it would be pretty good. but that series loses my attention when they get to a "boss" that's bigger and badder and faster than a zombie.

1.Night of the Living Dead remake starring Tony Todd aka Candyman. All time favorite zombie movie.
2.Day of the Dead remake with Mena Suvari.
3.Resident Evil 1-2. You really can't have one without the other, so it counts as one!
Honorable mentions:
Friday the 13th part 4 (technically Jason is undead and a killing machine)

Yeah, I probably should have pointed out what I meant. In The Last Man On Earth ( the most accurate screen adaption of Matheson's I AM LEGEND), they were vampires, but the way they were beating on the house, moaning trying to get in is basically the plot of NOTLD. I wasn't pointing out that they were zombies and I thank you ZombieHunter for clarifying and apologize for you having to do so. I don't know what to classify the creatures in Omega Man as, and was let down by the fact that I Am Legend ( the movie) was more like Omega Man than I Am Legend (the book).

I believe the Japanese struck first with the remake "I am Omega". The success of that was the instigator for the American version, "I am Legend". I thought both were OK. Never was too big into the original, but I thought the remakes were alright.
I heard a while back that someone in Hollywood wanted to remake Fulci's Zombie. Haven't heard anything since then, as it was in the Fangoria rumour dept years back. Probably around 05 or 06? Thought that would be interesting to see.
