"Officially endorsed" Anti-Zombie Combat Pistol

 The last issue (Feb, 2009) issue of guns and ammo had a review for the Springfield XD(M) 9 and the writer of the article (Patrick Sweeney) actually recommended it for use against zombie hordes. If I can dig out the scanner I may post a bit, or you can buy a copy (or stand in Walmart at the magazine rack and read the article and not buy it). I've never fired an XD or XD(M), althoughSpringfield sell a very good 1911. Somewhere I have an article on the upgrades built in to the XD(M)'s over the standard XD's so I'll try to post some info on that too. Anybody have any firsthand experience with an XD to share?

 I don't have any experience... but i have seen them shot... they are definitely hardcore... I would say that it would be one the top three guns to use on zombie hordes...

i didn't see the article you're referring to, but i pulled up some info on that pistol on google.  19 round magazine??!!  That's awesome.

on a side note, i find it interesting that a writer notes the practicality of a particular firearm for zombie defense. maybe he should be introduced to these forums? sounds to me like he would fit in.

 The article was on page 34, a photo of the XD(M)9 is on the cover as well, I haven't used the scanner in a while and need to download software from HP since I lost the disc, but I'll at least get the introductory page up if possible. I checked the Guns&Ammo website for the article, but it wasn't up yet. I had thought about letting my subscription expire, because it seems like every gun they review is "the greatest ever" and list a lot of guns none of us will ever afford, and it seems that quite a few of their writers have contracted B.S. syndrome. I checked with Springfield and their guns come with a lifetime warranty, which is always a plus. With the interchangeable backstraps it could easily be changed to fit my sister or anyone else as well. I think I may have found my new pistol, even though I may settle for "only" 16+1 of 40 S&W. I need that and a 92, no wonder I'm always broke!

I don't have any experience with the xd(m) but I've shot the XD several times in .40, and I'd give it my anti-Zombie endorsement as well!

I have a link to an article on the XD(m)9 in one of my above posts. The Beretta 92 is also known as the M9, the side arm of America's military and the gun used in most of the Resident evil games. You can also go to Wikipedia.org and type in the model if you come across something you don't know about.

 Always glad to help out, especially with firearms education. And remember the four rules always.
1- Treat ALL guns as if they were loaded.
2- NEVER point the muzzle at anything you do not wish to destroy
3- ALWAYS be sure of your target AND what is behind it (backstop)
4- Finger OFF the trigger until ready to fire

 If you have any questions always feel free to ask, be as specific as possible so my answers will be accurate. If I don't know the answer I won't B.S. you, I'll try to help you find it so we will both know. Don't know where you live, but if any of you guys ever find yourselves down my way I'll have you trained in firearms safety and have you competent in no time. as for a quick lesson. when ever some one blindly says a 9mm gun they mean a Berretta. just the way the public is. when they say a .45 they mean a colt 1911. no these are not the only guns in those chambers. but the uneducated public are just sheep. I actually heard, at a gun show on Sunday, a man looking for Berretta bullets. he had no idea what gun he had, just that it took "Berretta bullets". now don't get me wrong, i am not some weapons elitists. but if you make the decision to own a gun. respect that decision enough to learn a thing or two about the gun you have. heres a few more links for you.

 Don't forget the old timers. When they say "I got a 38" they mean they have a Smith&Wesson M&P/hand ejector/model 10/1903/k frame in 38 Special. Oh, and those that automatically think EVERY lever action is a 30-30.
