Leatherman for this dude too. Slick tool for sure.

For blades,

I like the classic machete. Not the biggest, but it gives you strong offense and defense because of its size. How well you wield a sword/blade is really what makes any sword/blade effective. IMO of course. But in most situations I would feel rather calm with one in my hand.

Here's a way to make an ancient weapon using modern stuff. You take a nice thick goalie stick and chop into a paddle. You then line the outside edge with razors and set them into the wood. Once set and secured with whatever you choose to use, you have a razor sharp weapon good for slicing and good for protection too. Nothing you want as a prime weapon, but always cool and fun to make and you never know!  Wink

Now, I carry a few different blades, for different purposes. Especially if I'm on one of my frequent ventures into the woods. Because I'm no good at shooting guns, I learned to compensate by throwing. I can throw just about anything. But where I shine is knives. Now, I'm not sure where my knives come from, because I don't buy directly from the manufacturer, but I've found that some of the best knives i've ever found for combat, both ranged and close in, were English rondels. Long stillettos that are almost all blade, but the tip is wicked sharp. Heck, i've got one that my brother claims gave him a cut just by looking at it. But for close in, I still find that nothing really beats a sword.

I use (for 2 years now) a Gerber Multitool. and it is simply the best for me. Always very useful to me and great companion.

For combating Zombies.  I think a machette or jungle knife of some kind (parang) would would pretty well.

I'm hesitant to use a knife with a serated edge or back.  You stab a zombie in the melon with one and it might get stuck.  Sure you have killed the zombie, but what about the one behind him.  I'm just saying.  Different tools for different uses.

I have a gerber multi-tool, Buck single folding knife (w/rubber grip), swiss army knife, and a Kbar.

Probably the best knife for killing zombies would the 7" utility knife in my kitchen knife block.  Light, strong, full-tang, quality steel, single edged and a nasty point.  The blade is a uniform 1.25" until it tapers to the point.  Quick in and quick out.  It would be one I take with me.
