Check this out!

http://www.anzioironworks.com/MAG-FED-20MM-RIFLE.htm

20mm- 1600 grains @ 3300 FPS vs 50 BMG- 668 grain @ 2910 FPS (standard mil)
Anzio claims a 5000 yard maximum range!

Ammo availability could prove problematic, since 20mm Vulcan isn't just laying around.  Then there's the whole issue of converting from electric to percussion primers.  Besides that fact that any centerfire over 50 cal is considered a destructive device under the NFA, and is subject to all the BATF hoops.  $10k, plus the $200 tax stamp and a few months waiting for the BATF to approve your application, and it could be yours!  Oh, ammo is available from Anzio for a mere $10 a round for ball, and $15 a round for tracer.  Don't forget your optic either!  $$$$

Very impractical, but cool as hell!  I still want one.  I stumbled across it a couple of years ago and felt I should share.  How would you like to pack that pig around?

Holy hells. That's a beast. Then again, I'd be more likely to swing it into someone then actually shoot it.

At $10-$15 a shot, I'd have to finance ammo for the beast, let alone the gun. How does it cost an extra $2,000 for the magazine version over the single shot?

Yeah I know right?  Just think how much an optic would cost that would take that abuse and still have enough magnification to do the round justice.  Have you seen the youtube video of one being shot?  I don't think you'd have to spend a lot on ammo.  You wouldn't want to shoot it that much!
