survival guide. It will also include some other stuff.

, machete, first aid, small pickaxe, canned foods, and bottled water.

 A couple of good knives (one kept clean for preparing foods, one nasty for undead defense and general chores), fire starting materials, REAL guns (if possible).

 Oh, and KILLUNDEAD, was that supposed to be a health bar dropping? If so that's the funniest thing I've saw today. Grin

 I think the field guide to edible plants is a great idea. You could study it so you have a good idea of what the edible plants look like. Keep the guide with you in the field to double check a plant is safe.

 I guess the canned food would depend on your personal fitness level. It would be a good idea to have something as a backup in case you could not scrounge food, maybe someone else will pop in with some better alternatives.

Well food wise there are many things that could be lighter and more practical, MRE's, dried food (Airtight), Coffee (you cant forget coffee!). canned foods would be something you would have in a shelter where you wouldnt be carrying heavy things around.

Look into adding;

Poncho or painters tarp
large trash bags or barrel liners
duct tape
water filter
water purification tablets
canteens
550 cord
lighters and matches in a safe
toilet paper

there's a short list
