Personally, I've trained in staff, nunchuck, three different kinds of swords, cane, dagger, axe, spear, hammer, and Tai Chi Chun, Tiger style kung fu, and Savate.

i caught half of what that was on a mental level. The others...you lost me. Grin
I havn't really trained in anything unless you count a machete used at my Pa-Pa's farm as a type of training.

Seems like it would build all the right muscles, and any exercise is good. I've not had a lot of "training". I went to an MMA "class" for a while, but I did that just because I thought grappling was fun.

K. If you want, I'll explain why I chose each one specificly. Just so you understand.

(Cut into bits so it's easier to follow)

K. Effectively, I trained with staves, so I could improvise with things like long branches, and still know what I'm doing. If I need extreme reach on my opponent, this would be the style I use.

Nunchuck was so I could improvise with close range flexible weapons. I default to this when I need to dissuade my opponent from fighting at all. Very flashy.

I studied longsword, two handed sword, and Italian rapier, and those were simply so I could use my forged weapons better. THIS is my default style. I will use this for just about every occasion.

Cane's a tricky one. I basically studied how to use any cane shaped thing about two feet long properly. Technically, I can't kill someone using a cane. Cane does cover some basic umbrella technique, too. I default to this when I don't want my opponent to be in the hospital afterward.

Dagger is really very handy. If you get the opportunity, take Dagger classes. Not only is it good flexibility training, but a short bladed or blunt object in the right hands can be very, VERY dangerous. I default to this if they get too close.

Axe is bloody useful. Both one and two handed. I default to this style either when I need to use a shield, or when I'm improvising, using an unbalanced weapon

Spear is possibly my most flexible style. If I'm outmatched using staff, I'll swap to this. I don't need a pointy end for this style to work. But it helps. Again, I default to this style if I need a more lethal variant of staff.

Hammer is a blunt version of axe. Think axe with a blunt weapon. Same uses.

After all these weapons, I decided I needed something for if I DIDN'T have a weapon. So I took up Tai Chi Chun. Good soft martial art. If I don't want my opponent dead, I use this.

Tiger style Kung Fu. I'm still learning this one, still sussing out how to use it to it's potential, but from what I've been taught so far, it may just become my preferred unarmed style.

Savate, if you care to wiki it, is a highly agressive style, and makes the perfect counterpoint to Tai Chi. It's my current favourite unarmed style.

I know how to use a axe/hammer quite well (Nothing martial) but I can swing a machete (I.E Saber) I simply love saber type weapon's (Single edged blade) not the katana, DONT LIKE KATANA (Because everyone does) so I can swing any weapon you hand me, and stab anything with one. (If possible)

That's pretty cool. There's something about someone who you can hand almost anything to. Makes them very useful after the apocalypse.

That's roughly where most of my experience is, but I really do like the dagger.

Not to be showoffy but I can use almost anything. I studied Hyabusa Ninjitsu most people have no clue what Ninjitsu is but look at it this way NINJAitsu. 12 Years of this training with Sai, Dagger, Hand to Hand, Many different styles of throwing weapons, Katana, Ninja To, Staffs, and others. I don't consider myself badass but anyone I get into a fight with does wind up in far worse condition than any fight i've ever seen.

Wow, I'm behind the power curve here.  Are we counting pistol whipping, bayonet, and buttstrokes?  If it gets to the point I need those skills, I'll most likely die in a pile of spent brass.

Yes, yes we are. Again, we could probably use a few more hand to hand people, but anything helps.

Wow, after hearing some of this, I feel like I'd be old and slow. lol

I've used alot of heavy tools and could probably do ok with an axe, sledge, maul, ect). If I really, really had to, but you'd get tired quick.

Well I studied Shorin-ryu for about 3 years before I blew my knee out. The knee is fine now, but I never got back into it.

I have been apart of alot of law enforcement self defense training.  It's usually no lethal, but I could probably get away from a zombie or subdue a panic survivor.  I don't think pressure points are going to work that well though.   Undecided
I have alot of training with a straight stick (baton, night stick, bo, or yes, a mag light will work in a pinch).

The straight stick in my opinion is one of THE styles to have. If you train in anything, start with that. I use an english dagger style for straight stick, or english quarterstaff if it's long enough, but whatever works. It's one of the most versatile weapons around. Omni-directional impact head, meets availability, meets practicality.
