I prefer folk songs. Things that teach. Songs that entertain, and keep the spirit up.

Wow, folk music! nothing gets me in the mood 4 killing the undead like some wanabe hippie struming an acoustic and whining about peace and saving the wales!! and im sure Robert Neville would prefer Slayer to Simon and Garfunkel when trying to drown out the howl of hundreds of hungry zombies!!

Folk music may not be your thang, but to each his own when it comes to music. My personal soundtrack would change on a daily basis. I can see the music to the reasoning behind something more mellow to help keep you calm, a clear mind and a steady hand are essential. However, I also see the point in something to get you fired up so today I pick S.O.D. :  Speak English Or Die, the anniversary edition with the live tracks and bonus songs to add length, then The Ace Of Spades by MOTORHEAD played on an endless loop to finish things out, but tommorow it may be entirely different.

Note, I didn't actually say HIPPIE songs. That's different entirely. I was thinking old tunes. Barrets Privateers. Farewell to Nova Scotia. Songs that can properly be called Shanties.

Well, technically at one time folk music was simply a synonym for traditional music, but the term became associated with hippies and peace and flowers and uhghh, it gives me the shivers.
Today my soundtrack is composed entirely of AC/DC, although heavier rotation from the Bon era.

a perfect one being March of the S.O.D. Cheesy

My soundtrack today is Metallica's St. Anger, with all the slow parts and most of the lyrics taken out, which makes for the best 24 minutes of thrash EVER!

Man, straight up Metallica and maybe alittle Slipknot and Disturbed thrown in for good measure. Ride the lightning is just the song to pump you up for killing zeds...well that and Bread Fan. Both great songs. From Slipknot maybe like Psychosocial or Before I Forget. From Disturbed maybe Inside the Fire, Stupifyed, Down with the Sickness, or The Night. Thats just a portion of my list.
